I bought these switches know that, for some reviewers, switches had failed to trigger after a while. Sure enough, after three weeks of daily driving, two switches failed on me. But they were suuuper easy to take apart and fix.
Why did I go through the trouble? Because I love the transparent stem and rosy housing. I love the copper-coloured contact leaves. I love the whole look--which is important because they're in a see-though acrylic keyboard.
In regards to hand lubing...I have never understood it: seems like a lot of work for a minor improvement. So I bought these to get the hand lubing experience without the work. It's nice. Really nice. But, for me, not worth the hype. If you're undecided about hand lubing, buy a set of these and try for yourself. It's the cheap and lazy person's answer.
I also love the sound and feel of these on an acrylic plate...! Makes me excited to type.
Got this for my neo ergo purple board! Sounds pretty neat!
I tried these out on one board, and I liked them so much that I replaced the switches on my other two boards with these.
Unfortunately, the switches seem to start dying rather quickly. On each keyboard, it's been about 4-5 months before some switches start missing inputs. Often the more high use keys (like E and R), but then also some that see much less use.
I have Ice Kachang Tactile V2s for the modifiers, and I haven't noticed issues with them, although that could just be because they get used less often + you tend to hold modifiers for a bit rather than just tap them.
Ice Kachang Linear Switches (Hand Lubed or Unlubed)
These became my favorite switches and I love everything about them, how they sound and how they feel . They have an odd almost slightly tactile feel for a linear that I actually think is a nice . My main issue with these switches though is that despite how much I like them individual switches began to die out rather quickly for some odd reason more or so more than most switches Ived had. I had to already replace around 3-4 because they began missing inputs occasionally and causing some issues that were more noticeable whike gaming than typing (except for the space bar that was very noticeable) . I am not exactly sure why these seem to be dying out individually so quickly but otherwise I think it’s a great switch.
